REMEMBERING FATHER TROY
Father Michael Troy, founder of Knights of Columbus Trojan Soccer Association passed away on March 19th at the age of 92.Born in Ireland, trained in Switzerland he came to Edmonton via Toronto in 1964. In Edmonton he continued his career which saw him become a well respected cleric, educator, coach, author, mentor and friend to numerous people in our city and area. In the mid 70’s he formed our first team with graduates from St Joes and O’Leary High Schools. The Association grew and became incorporated in 1979.Being an elite athlete himself in soccer, rugby and track, Fr Troy was always passionate about soccer and sports in general. His vision was the guiding force behind the Association we have today and the respect that the name KC Trojans has in the soccer community. One will never find a more “can do” man or a more loyal friend than Fr Troy and he will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him
